Union County Board Meeting a Success

Over 126 people turned out for Protect Our Land’s Future presentation to the Union County Board of Supervisors!

Francine Ide, Roger Vicker, and Chad Ide presented a recap of safety information to the board. Then followed with a presentation of the petition in favor of an abeyance with 936 verified signatures.

The board said they were impressed with the turnout and the petition. Dr. Hopkins said that spoke volumes. When chair Rick Friday opened the floor to a motion by the board, vice-chair Dennis Brown moved that the abeyance be extended 6 months. Chad Ide asked that it be 12 months to allow farmers to be available instead of in the middle of harvest. Dr. Hopkins said he would rather not have it overlap next year’s budget work and suggested December. Brown changed his motion to run till December 10th. Dr. Hopkins seconded. All voted in favor.
